PC speakers, gaming computers and other electronics are priced in the UK below the UK government’s £349-a-year minimum price for a single unit.
In a statement, the government said the move was to “ensure that all people who want to buy a computer, tablet or mobile phone can afford to buy it”.
“As a result of this measure, the cost of purchasing a new computer or mobile device in the United Kingdom has been reduced by £349 per year,” it said.
“This means that consumers can now afford to invest in a computer or smartphone they can use every day, without any increase in price.”
