The price of computers, especially laptops, have been dropping, even as the average price of smartphones and tablets has risen.
The trend is a trend many analysts are seeing with high-end smartphones and tablet prices dropping, especially with more than two years remaining on the lifecycle of their warranties.
“The trend is that high-performance PCs are going up in price,” said Richard Greenfield, principal analyst at Forrester Research.
“There is definitely a premium on high-margin laptops now, so you’re not going to find them for less than $1,000 at Wal-Mart.
So if you’re a consumer who is looking for something with a little more bang for the buck, you’re going to look at those more than anything else.”
